Yes. Given that you flip burgers the rest of the week.
No. If the payout in a 5k is anything over a couple hundred bucks you are either going to get regional elite (for lack of a better term) or 'B' Kenyans that will sweep in, beat you by 30 seconds and take your money. You might do better at marathons where 2:30-2:40 can sometimes net you up to a grand. Just pray those same Kenyans don't hear about it and lope to a 2:29 payday.
If you're a woman.
Sure just put on a wig and "identify" as a woman, and you can win some high caliber races.
Kara has been doing it for years.

So has Adam in the last few years.
You couldn't even live on 14:00-14:15.
Not a living, but beer money.
Money won is sweeter than money earned.
If you live in the New England area you could probably pick up an extra $100-$500 each weekend if you cherry picked your races. When I was running low 16's a couple years ago I made about 1000 dollars out of the 10 road races I did.
I was in New England in the early 90's, was 15:00-15:30 range for about 6 years, and 2:30 marathoner. Only netted about $2000 over 6 years. Most from marathons. A lot of wear and tear on the body

Yes. Run a little slower for a lot longer and win some ultras. Cultivate an unusual personality. Then get sponsored. $$$$$

Yes if you started a running related website with intelligent and thoughtful articles attracting some of the world's top coaches to your forums, gradually over time encouraging extremist trolls, promoting gossip, scandal and unsubstantiated rumors, tolerating racist and offensive posters, while randomly deleting objective and informative threads that were genuinely related to running.
If you can run 9 of them in a row.
Enoch Nadler from Florida moved to Dallas and ran a 14:30 5K & 1:04 half. He competed locally for about a year, easily the best runner in town. He tried to make some cash doing it but there's just not much around here and anything more than $500 brought in Kenyans from out of town. He gave up on running real quick and went back to poker because he wasn't making much.

Looks like he's not doing much better playing poker. Hasn't hit $5k in earnings yet.
Are you serious? Fvck no! You couldn't even afford groceries and gas for the van that you would have to live in, down by the river. There are guys that run 13:45 - 14:00 that can barely afford to eat and sleep on their friend's sofa.
