Is he still racing?
Suffered first degree burns from fire on the track.
ran himself reckless
The dude called me out on twitter when I sarcastically thanked him for his advice, because he told me the key to running fast was "wearing a white headband, and being a badass"... when I had asked for any sort of steeple advice (drills, stretching, speedwork tips etc.) for a beginner when I started running it in college (because my coach didn't know much) .. Though the first few singlets he had on his website were pretty cool. Now I think he sticks to the road racing scene. A friend said he saw him in a 5K in North Carolina a few months back. Probably a nice guy, definitely very driven to be successful for himself.
Fam reminds me of the dark ages when an 8:20 steeple made you the best in America.

Check out his website reckless running. He still races locally

That was exactly my point. He wasn't a good steepler but would say things like " the Kenyans had their eye on me and were boxing me in because they know I can beat them." But he had no shot of beating them. His steeple PR is garbage. He could have been a fantastic 5000/10000 runner. Dude is a moron.
Fam = The AntiJager
He did have talent for the 5/10, but sticking with steeple was smart at the time (IMO) because it was (is?) a much easier Olympic team to qualify for generally.

Literally the exact words I was going to post?
I remember a race he ran that flotrack covered, and he hit the A standard, and the flo guys were ecstatic. They kept yelling "track is back!" I also remember when he led like half a lap in the Olympic finals and the US fans were going nuts because of how ballsy he is.
My, what a long way we've come from the dark ages.
Much like Jennings he became one of those guys who thinks having a "personality" is more important than running fast.
The US record for the steeple has been < 8:10 for 30 years. One < 8:10
guy ran 30 miles/week, the other ran closer to 80 miles/week. The common thread was each had < 3:39 1500m capability.
8:20 is and will always be a respectable steeple time for a 3:40 1500m runner.
Only 23 Americans have broken 8:20. Fam broke it quite a few times and is ranked 16th all-time. He was one of best American steeplechasers for more than a decade. Outside of Jager, only three other Americanrunners have gone sub-8:10. So no, 8:20 is still great. Jager is one of the best in the world, one of the fastest all-time.

The guy is 36, he's long past his prime.
Why is Boulami on that list? I thought he wa suspended for drugs?
Is that the guy who ran a 4 minute mile on a treadmill?
Is the list correct? wrote:

Boulami ran a 7:53 that was erased from the record books because of a drug test. His 7:55 from the previous season stayed on the books.
Top Italian-American steepler in the world.
