So I've been running for like 8 years, I'm 20 now so I started in middle school. I've always been a distance guy and honestly pretty awful at short distances. Anyway, in high school my pr was 17:15, I worked hard in all practices. I did extra as often as I slacked off. I was second on my team and we were top 3 in most meets. I was top 10 in region. A bit over 100 at state meet but I had a pretty bad race. Why after 6 years of running and really working hard could I never even go under 17. According to LR anyone with 1 leg and 3 weeks of training should be able to break 16. I'm not like upset about this just curious how something that seems so easy to LR was unfathomable to me in HS. We were very rarely even at meets where kids were in the 15s. Are there regions of the country where people are just better? Or are all the coaches in this area (KY, OH, IN) that bad? We followed similar training schedules as I've seen on here. Not really sure what kind of an answer or response I'm looking for just curious what others think.
