My daughter is interested in throwing at the D1 level. She will graduate in 2016, and throws discus, javelin, and has started to learn hammer this summer. Her discus PR right now is 130', javelin is 113' (just got a coach this summer and has improved a lot already), and hammer is still a work in progress. Her academics are solid: 31/32 on ACT (composite/superscore), 3.95 unweighted GPA, 4.45 weighted GPA, leadership positions in FBLA and DECA clubs plus other extracurricular things (both academic and athletic). She has heard from several DII and DIII schools and a few DI schools.
I realize her marks aren't all that spectacular at this time, but she has finally found a good coach that works with her on all 3 throwing events. She has never had consistent decent coaching until this summer, so we are hoping to see improvements through the fall in her marks. She would also like to major in business in college, possibly accounting, maybe economics.
Does anyone have any recommendations on which programs might be a good fit for her, or which ones to avoid? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
