veldig fort.
World record?
converts to about a 4:08 mile on 1.08x, which would be, if he held up, about three seconds faster than Eli Krahn's American 9th grade (probably 15y) record (I'm discounting Verzbicas's record because at the time he was 16 and only skipped his junior year to get back on age track). But this kid would be one of the older 8th graders in this country, and the 8th grade record is much slower, probably 4:20s. Krahn ran 4:09.38/8:58.67 in 2013, but those are 1600/3200s according to milesplit, so that's about a 4:11 mile. (He ran 4:26/9:53 in 2012)
All I found for 8th grade is the pending NYS 8th grade record for 1600m:
4:22.80m Noah Tindale (Guilderland) 2015 ** (May 19, Suburban Council, Colonie)
Jacob is a beast. In case you haven't figured it out, he is the younger brother of Olympic 1500 5th placer Henrik Ingebrigtsen.Henrik is amazed by his little bro. I found this article on Jacob where Henrik talks about his littel bro after Jacob ran 8:25 for 3k.http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=no&u=http://www.nrk.no/sport/ny-supertid-for-jakob-ingebrigtsen-_14_-1.12408102&prev=search
Some article wrote:
Brother Henry described his brother's achievements as "completely coconut" ahead of the Bislett Games.
- He runs so fast that I had not believed it if you had told me that in winter. He runs at least three seconds, faster than I thought possible, says Henrik Ingebrigtsen.
There also is another brother that is 22. Filip Ingebrigtsen. How much would it suck to be a 3:38 22-year old and be only the third best guy in the family?

LOL. You should know.
Ingebrigtsen is easily the most bad ass name in T&F.

Thanks for the link. He says that he could have run a lot faster (in the 3k, 8:25?) had he known he was close to the age 15 record, that he wants the WR (and got it?) for under 15 before September, and from seeing the finish of the 1500m linked above, I think it is clear that he can run faster with competition, since he was ahead by a long way at the finish. I'd love to see how this family trains their kids.
They are coached by their father.
Chasing records is always death to the young and talented. Unfortunately, I think the writing's on the wall for this kid and it says, "shooting star."
1:53:09 800M today

That was my assumption. I'm wondering how he trains them.
As for the 1:53, that's a great time for a 14 year old, though not on the same level as the 1500, so he's more a 15/3k type right now.

Yeah you are right. The father is clearly an awful coach. His eldest son only got 5th in the Olympics at age 21.
It is important to remember that Henrik was a xc-skier in his youth, not just running. He became Norwegian champion as 15 years old.
That by itself is impressive since the family is from a part of Norway with little snow
Some details about HI's training are known. Solid mileage and frequent threshold sessions (e .g 5*6 min). Altitude training and no overracing.

He trains them in a sensible manner corresponding with selecting their parents wisely.

Here is the standard Ingebrigtsen training for Henrik, its assumed Jakob does a mindre version of this. Hes father as also said he will be more focused on the 800 as thats Henriks weak spot. Henrik has joked that his younger brother is so good because they have learned from "all" The mistakes they did when he was young.
For those who dont know; Henrik was a great to watch. He was always superior and just ran gung ho from start to finish, often winning by a huge margin.
5 workouts a week in 3 days. 2 days with double treshold intervals. Fav workout is 10-12x 1000m in above treshold pace. He trains like a 5k guy (or used to, more spesific and more speed now).
1 workout 2x10x200m upphill. Hes called himself and interval kind of guy and feels continious running gives less improvement. He most often runs intervals in the 6min range and never longer than 10min.
He, like Marius Bakken, uses a lactate meter regularly in training. Is this not normal in America among elites?
and solid mileage during base (150 km/week)+ altitude training. He returned
from altitude one day prior to the race in Paris (as did younger brother J)
Anybody know Henrik from his days at Texas A&M? Would love to know what happened during his brief stint.
What do you think? College Station is no place for a Norwegian hipster that has been trained his entire life by his father.
