many sprinters, especially Jenna, scrape their toes for several strides out of the blocks. A coach told me that's intentional; to help maintain balance...seems like it causes unnecessary friction detrimental to forward progress. I've never been a sprinter, but i'm an engineer, and it seems odd to intentionally induce resistance when the goal is to shimmy down the track as quickly as possible.
Jenna has ridiculous top-end speed, obviously. It seems like her first 30m always puts her behind.
Anyone chime in?
Huge kudos to JP for pulling out of the LJ. Young lady appears to have a good head on her shoulders. And the crowd support wasn't small....
