I think a lot of people are under the impression Rupp had an off day and he may not have been his best but Hill closed in 3:59.11 the final 1600.

Hill is blazing fast at the finish.
I think Rupp's best chance was to go with 5 laps to go.
However, in any case it was a tough race to win.
3:59.11 is a very strong last 1600--of course Hill was sitting back and did most of that work in the last 200. But Rupp was obviously not at his best. Hill was fresh. True recovered better than Rupp from the 10k.
I have a feeling (honestly it's just a guess) that True didn't go as hard as he could've at the end of the 10k. He seemed to be content with making the team while Rupp looked to win.
