How crazy would it be if Genzebe Dibaba gets the WR and takes it away from her own sister? Remarkable.
The weather is a little warmer than we thought. Weather.com is reporting 71 degrees right now and says it will be 68 degrees in an hour. We were hoping for the 50s.
Women's 400h is in the books.
28-year old Jamaican Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica stayed unbeaten on the year as she earned a narrow victory over American Georgine Moline in a world leading 54.15 to Moline’s seasonal best of 54.29.
The previous world leader, Asian champ Kemi Adekoya of Bahrain (54.31), struggled and was just fourth in 55.37.
Spencer has now won all three of the DL races on the season in Shanghai, Birmingham and Oslo. Moline was the winner in Rome but the 400h didn’t count in the standings there.
Might have to knock one out over Stowers.
Men's 400
19-year-old Steven Gardiner of the Bahamas got the win in his first-ever Diamond League race, separating over the second turn to run 44.64 and move up to #8 on the world list in 2015 (he came in ranked #17 at 44.98).. With no Kirani James or any Americans, the field was pretty weak in this one, but Gardiner still put in a good performance, lowering his PR by .34 of a second despite wind on the homestretch.
Women's Shot Put
German Christina Schwanitz, the 2013 worlds silver medallist, continued to be the top shot putter in the world with Valerie Adams still not having competed this year. Schwanitz, the world leader at 20.77, picked up her second Diamond League victory of the year and in four days (she also won in Birmingham on Sunday) with a 20.14 throw. American Michelle Carter was second with an outdoor seasonal best of 19.20m (previous best 18.51 but she threw 19.45 indoors).
Poland’s Robert Urbanek won his first Diamond League event with a third toss of 63.85 meters, good enough to best the Netherlands’ Erik Cadee and Poland’s Piotr Malachowski, both of whom threw 62.32. Urbanek’s winning mark was just the 50th-best throw of 2015 and was the shortest winning throw in Diamond League history.

I wonder if Jenny SImpson watchese these races live. I'm very interested in seeing how Kipyegon looks here. IT seems to me the biggest threats to Simpson right now might be the 5k runners.
And a muir wins with a coburn like lead, where the field just let her go 4:00.39 just holding off kipyegon
What a great women's 1500. Laura Muir went with the rabbit 63-208 and no one else did. She had a 3.5 second lead at the bell and managed to hold on and win it.
What guts.
I think it's official - the only people beating Simpson are the 5000 runners. Kipyegon closed in sub 60 in this one. That should scare Jenny. I think SImpson likely wins gold if things stay like this unless Dibba, Ayana or Kipyegon run the 1500. Any of those 3 are very dangerous but they've been in the 5000 so far.
Great Britain’s Laura Muir earned a well-deserved victory in the women’s 1500 in 4:00.39, but it took everything she had to do it. Muir was the only woman to go with the rabbit early on and by the bell she had a 3.5-second lead over the field. That set the stage for a dramatic final lap, where Muir just managed to hold off Kenya’s 3:56 woman Faith Kipyegon to record Great Britain’s first win in a Diamond League 1500/mile (either gender).

A tiny pb for Cabral. I think eh's run in the 8:19s 5 times now and had a previous best of 8:19.14.
I was thinking last night that Dibaba would break the WR but seeing the slower times in the 1500 and steeple, I don't the conditions are good for it so I'm saying no WR.

If it's in the low 50s that would probably explain it. That or there is wind.
2:50.91 at 1km in the 5000 WR attempts which is 14:14 pace.
Grunewald 4:04, Kampf 4:05 now have their WC qualifiers.
Legit contenders now for the 3rd & 4th WC 1500 spots after Simpson & Rowbury.
lol what did Erik Kynard yell at that poor official?
2:54 2nd km so they are really losing ground here.
Couple of 67s for Dibaba, still one big ask though
2:53.63 the 3rd km.
You know she'll have a big kick
She's got to go 4:24 for the last 1600 to get near it. She's running 67.s now.
She needs to go now slower and then kick.
69 then a 70. 2 two go
