What "criminal" thing exactly did Mary Slaney do to Zola Budd? Budd cut in on her, slowed down, and caused a fall. Slaney had been prevented from running the Olympics in 1972 because she was too young (14), had been injured with compartment syndrome in 1976, was boycotted out in 1980 (probably injured then as well), and then after double gold, leading virtually all of her two finals, in World's in 1983 finally had her shot in 1984, with much of the Eastern Bloc boycotting and thus a great chance for gold again, when the inexperienced Budd caused her to fall, wrecking her lifetime dreams. How anyone could blame Slaney for being upset is beyond me.
