What are your thoughts on this:
1. What's the ideal weight and body fat% for a 5'10" male college 5k/10k runner? A lot of sites put Rupp at 5'11", 134 lbs - is that ideal? (or 132 lb for a 5'10" male).
2. Do you think the readings I got from this scale are accurate? (see below)
I recently had the opportunity to use one of those fancy $x,xxx scales that measure your body composition and whatnot (a Tanita SC-240). I'm 5'10" and got: weight 147.2 lb, body fat 6.1% (9 lb fat), muscle mass 131.4 lb, bone mass 6.8 lb.
The weight seems fine to me - I double checked on a different scale, but I was very surprised to see such a low body fat %...especially considering I'm on downtime before xc and I ran my xc PRs last year at 138 lb (32:06 for 10k). According to this scale, to get back down to 138 lb without losing muscle, I would have to lose all of my fat, 9 lb....something just doesn't seem right here.
What do you guys think? What are your PRs for 5k/10k and corresponding height/weight?
