grant fisher 4 minute time at Michigan state meet
Official time of 4:00:27 1600m
sooo....he's still about 1.5 seconds from the 4:00 mile barrier then?
Did it stop raining for the race? There were a bunch of umbrellas out in a Twitter of the girls 1600m.
Or, another way to look at it, is saying he ran 10.5 sec faster than he did at his state meet last year, and then ended up running 4:02.02 at the Dream Mile. It's been raining all day in Rockford, so conditions surely were not ideal (compared to say a paced race at Oregon or Stanford).Let's see how hard he goes in the 3200m later.

Rockford freshman runs a 4:10! Wow!
Will he come anywhere close to German's 1500 time on the backend of a double?
I'd like to see Grant break4 in the dream mile and then take a shot at the 2 mile record at NON with Ostberg, Brannigan, et al.

Not true Fisher ran great. Weather was not a factor Rain is usual not a huge factor and sometimes acts as a "cooling event". Wind is a huge factor.
So ideal is actually "raining"? Hmm. Interesting.

I think it was only very lightly drizzling during the race but there was some wind.
3200 should be interesting couple kids skipped the 1600 for the 3200. Plus Robinson of Waterford Mott ran 8:56 last week at a county championship.
winds picking up Boys 200 results say wind aided 5.3. Storms running through Michigan today.
Fisher should just take it out in 2:08/4:16 and demoralize everyone else right from the start. He won't though. He'll likely win with a blazing last 400m.Ritzenhein's state meet record is 8:43. It'd be awesome to see him take a shot at it.That still wouldn't match German Fernandez's 4:00.29/8:34.23 same-day double from the Cali state meet.

8:53. Not a bad double. LolHe can break 8:40 whenever he wants to. 4:20 pace is nothing for him.

I was at the meet.
Rainy and windy, temperature approximately 59
Not the best of conditions and not the worst either.
He solo ran from the gun and clearly was trying to break 4.
Had he done so I believe only Jim Ryan can claim a sub four in a all high school non rabitted, non select exebition race.
He was so very close.
Came back about 1:40 later and won the 3200 in a sit and kick the last 200 m in 8:53.
Nice double Grant, you make Michigan proud.

Closed the final 200 m of the 3200 in 25 high/26 low!

One problem, Jim Ryun's race was an actual mile, not 9 meters short. So, Fisher is still 2+ seconds behind the sub-4 with that performance
If you're talking about 1600, which it sounds like you are, then Alan Webb also ran a high-school only race sub 4. Alan Webb ran 3:59 for 1600 his senior year at Arcadia Invite I believe.

Yeah, I saw this also. I am from the area (live in OK now) so it is nice to see how MI continues to show off talent, even if it is from a distance. Rockford still just turns out great performers. He was also 11th in XC in a strong year. I want to see how he develops for sure. Fisher and Brazier may be the big stories of the day, but Cole Johnson might be someone who is making headlines in a year or so.
Less than 1.6 seconds, not 2.

This was a 1600.Ryun ran 3:58.3 in a full mile at the Kansas State meet in 1965.
