With the increasing lack of popularity in the 10K (rarely contested, threatened to be removed from the Olympics etc), this is the chance to either prove the 10K is exciting or that the 10K is boring.
I hope they run like 26:20. Why not? Salazar was talking big about Rupp running 26:30 or 26:20 a few years ago. Mo Farah has run 59:30 for a half marathon and 8:03 for 2 miles indoors. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to run that fast.
This is the chance to prove everyone wrong that the 10K is not boring and people want to run fast. If it turns into a sit and kick 27:15 race, then the 10K deserves to die. And that would be a shame, because I loved watching Bekele in his prime doing the 10K because he actually ran it FAST. However, no one has the same fire that he had for the event since he left the track, and thus it has gotten less exciting. I hope Friday is the chance to prove haters of the 10K wrong.
Unless the weather is bad, I will be severely disappointed if the winning time is not significantly under 27 minutes, and would support the death of the 10K on the track. Please prove me wrong and run fast!!!
