I have never found a better rate than Road Runner stores or their on-line site. If you joing their "club" they have the best deals around. Some times they don't offer the discount on Nike but if you call or go into the store they honor the discount. I don't know why regular stores don't see how selling at full price hurts their business when the biggest running shoe seller offers considerable discounts.
I feel that this is a common misconception held on these boards. A quick look at the website you mention above, shows the following prices for these current shoe models:
Nike Vomero 10: 139.95
Asics Kayano 21: 159.95
Mizuno Wave Rider: 119.95
Asics Nimbus 17: 149.95
These are all current models, being sold at the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) that many local running stores will also sell these shoes at. A year from now, my guess is that you will see these shoes steeply discounted. Why? Because the online websites, much like a local running store, is trying to go through its old model or color inventory to make room for new inventory and updated shoe models that are coming in.
The longer the inventory sits on a shelf or in a distribution center without being sold, the more likely it has to be sold at an eventual loss (at or below the wholesale price the online or local retailer purchased the product for from the manufacturer). To take an example, the Kayano 20 is listed on the same website at : $109.95 or 99.95 for VIP members. That is a $50 markdown on a shoe that is over a year old. If you were to find a Kayano 20 at a local retail store, it would also be marked down in a similar manner, since they too are trying to sell the updated version (Kayano 21) at full MSRP.
