Doug, please stop posting threads about yourself.
You no doubt have done a great job coaching and recruiting. You have brought in good kids and do a good job scouting JH and getting them to come to your school. You have a good core of talented kids and they have bought in to you high mileage, high intensity interval method of training. You have done a good job getting kids to run doubles and treat track like most kids do at the club level.
But these threads about yourself are just tiresome here. You don't see Vin or Wetmore posting on here. Please stop.
I recommend you take to Twitter. You can blab about yourself and your team there. Dyestat might even give you a retweet!
Wasn't posted by me, but great to see you are still a fan. Actually, I think some of the great oak threads are posted by you with a different name just so you can bash me. Not sure what your deal is and why you are anti any of my kids getting credit for doing great things, but maybe just try being a positive person for once. You would probably feel better about yourself.
Doug
Okay, I get the weird love affair going on here...
Coach Soles, could you provide a link on your training or explain it because I am very interested in your philosophies
Thanks,
Josiah
Wasn't started by me. And everything I said was complimentary to what you have going there (good talent, buy in, mileage, high intensity).
The only negative was commenting on posting threads about yourself. Your kids are great. The self promotion however please keep elsewhere. It's just in bad taste.
I don't think Great Oak will be able to handle Dana Hills at the CA State Champs, let alone the entire nation.
Whatever happened to Nick Doan? Why didn't he run track this season?
While I do agree that the Great Oak boys (and girls) are all unbelievable runners, but there has to be more to the story. Soles is obviously a great coach but when two separate runners collapse at the line in two different races (two weeks until the state meet) I think there becomes a point of overtraining and this runners are burnt out. What's even worse is that all of these runners are only juniors and the one senior they have/had missed his senior year track season due to an injury. I respect Coach Soles as I know he's gotten his athletes to love and respect the sport, but I too would like to know an idea of the training they have going on.
Donger - the point is I wasn't self promoting but you seem to keep acting like I am. I do post that stuff on Twitter, as I am sure you are aware. That is my job, to help my kids get to the next level. Continue to twist it though man, you seem to enjoy that.
Neutral Coach - Dana hills is the team to beat next year, you are correct. Nick broke his foot playing winter soccer for the high school and was not on the track team his senior year.
torch - a couple guys were sick yesterday and gave their best effort. Spencer gave it his all but just wasn't healthy enough. After that race he realized he was too sick to run the 3200 and went home to rest. Our kids are good, but they are human. Illness, injury, stress, prom, relationships, etc all have an effect on them just like anyone else's team. That is what makes the CIF schedule so tough week in and week out.
Josiah - feel free to email me any training questions you have. My email is on the bottom of the GO track or XC websites. I'll do my best to answer direct questions.
Guys I know it is easy to make guesses and assumptions on the message board but most of them aren't even close. We have good kids, they work hard, they set high goals and sometimes it goes well and sometimes it doesn't. We are proud of them either way. :)
Well done coach.
