i believe michael stember of jesuit played basketball for the first half of his hs career, and he ran sub 4:10 as a sophomore
Please explain why you would take the winter off because you play bball?
Bball practice counts as training. You only need two days of running to keep things from falling apart. One day would be a steady hour run and the other would be 12-16 X 400 at 10k pace with 100m jogs in 1:00 with 2 mile warmups and cool downs. So that would take just 2 hours per week over the winter.
Yeah. Matt Rosen ran about 1:50 flat, forgot 1600 but probably near 4:10, and he was a very good basketball player as well. I'm sure he did some running in the winter though, he was known for his work ethic.
i had a friend do that and he has run 2:02 and 4:39, not quite as good but yea
Drew Hunter played basketball his freshman year but ran about 3 times a week that winter besides his bball training. But he only ran 9:40 or so as a freshman and got a lot faster once he trained year round.

If you want hockey then start your own thread about hockey. This one is about basketball. Got it??
Justin Switzer from Michigan is an example. National class high school runner and regionally good basketball player.

Sunni Olding ran 10:25 and was 10th at Foot Locker at Minster (OH), also played basketball all four years including on one state champion team.
Allie Ostrander is not sub-9:20, but 9:58 is pretty good for a girl, and she plays basketball.
Bret Gotcher
Ryan Deak, I heard he even won a dunking contest
Ryan Andersen plays D3 ball and he ran 26.8 for the 200
John Crews (9:02 as a HS junior, multiple time state champ, winner of the Philadelphia Marathon in 2:17) was a starting point guard for his varsity basketball team.

Exactly. Her total number of state championships is one more than just track.
Interestingly that the top girl runners in the area all wore their hair like Sunni for a number of years.
Charles jock from mission bay high winning state his second year in track. 1:51 in the 800. UCI NCAA champion and now runs for OTC
