Hi,
In the winter I am moving to somewhere without an athletics club (as far as I can tell), and I don't think I can motivate myself to run 50+ miles a week for a year by myself (especially if I have to do it on a treadmill due to the snow in winter).
From the looks of it, there are probably swimming and cycling clubs.
I want to come back after the year and aim to get back running fit, so what is the best way to do this off little running. Say I did swimming or cycling a lot with a club, and then tried to run 2-3 times a week (maybe 1 tempo, 1 interval and 1 long run), would that keep me fit enough that I could get back into running fairly swiftly when I'm back? I know there is no substitute for running, but if I stayed aerobically fit through other sports, and kept the running ticking over, would that help?
I don't need to come back running PBs, but if I could get back into fitness within a few months that'd be wonderful. Btw, I am mid-twenties and have run for a fair while, and around 50mpw for the last couple of years (16 mid 5k runner).
Thanks,
J
