According to a recent NYT editorial, 43% of college grades given out now are in the A range while in the 1960s that number was 16%.
Where are colleges giving out 43% A's.
Here is the grade breakdown that one of my professors shared with us and it seems pretty typical of my classes to me. Average grade was a B- and what do you know, 16% of student's got A and A-. (I'm a junior engineering major at a large state school ranked top 20 in most departments, class shown below was a combo of signal processing and control theory).
