Bear chases runners in Connecticut

Another persecution of bears. Classic liberal tactics.

The bear was obviously doing a tempo run for an upcoming ultra - which is a 10k in bear distance. The runner made baseless claims and was jealous of the bear's splits.

An aggressive bear wouldn't simply leave a "laceration".... unlike liberals, bears get the job done.

Okay... a few things here.

First of all, if the bear wanted to hurt the runners, they would be dead. He was obviously just playing.

The chest lacerations are obviously not from the bear. You don't fight a bear and live to tell about it.

Are bears considered game? Not much of a refuge, huh?

I run in the NC mountains a lot and see bears every once in a while. They can be scary, but not nearly as scary as a mountain lion.

This isn't true. Against black bears (which this bear was) your last line of defense is to fight. If you can show you aren't easy prey, you can scare the bear off. Do a quick Google search you'll find stories of people fighting off bears. Here is the first one I saw:

You are actually 100% correct. I have been taught that if a bear (or mountain lion) confronts you in an aggressive manner, it is best to grab a branch or stick, puff out your chest and scream at it. Look mean. Scare it off. This always bothered me b/c you want to hear something like, "just stand still and it will go away." Not the case with bears and cougars.

I guess what I should have said is that these runners did not outrun a bear. Bears are fast as hell.

My guess is that they saw a bear, it ran next to them for a second or two, they freaked and ran through the brush (guy cut his chest), bear went on his own way and now they want to kill it.

They clearly weren't running fast enough. Humph- hobbyjoggers!

Despite what you have been taught, bears are never scared.

If a bear does not maul you in seconds, it is likely because it got bored and needs to go drop a deuce.

CT is full of Pu$$ies anyway.

Bear pattern baldness is a medical condition.

A bear would not forgive such insensitivity.
