I have never raced wearing one but would like to wear one in my up coming marathon to hopefully knock off a few minutes from my previous one.
Yes or no ??? Thanks.

If you believe an ipod will knock a few minutes off your marathon then you are the perfect type of person to wear one during a race.
I've ran two marathons, one with an iPod, one without.
The one with an iPod, I definitely think it was good for motivation; there were several songs that got me pumped up
However, the one without, I feel like I had a better racing experience. I don't really remember much about my first and I attribute that to listening to music the whole time. I didn't hear cheers, I didn't talk to anyone, etc.
Can't really help you out on time purposes. The race without the iPod was about 20 minutes faster, but that's only because I had 1.5 more years of training

Thanks. I guess I just needed to hear it.
WTF is an Ipod?
Is that like an 8 track or something?
Aren't they usually banned?

Not sure about others but this one says in their rules it's ok.

Is this thread supposed to be on the Runner's World forums?
I would be that 95% of runners wear iPods when running races. They just usually don't post on LRC.
Yes, just make sure you have a good way of holding it. I'd recommend looking up how the pros carry their ipods in their races.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
