I was there for both Friday and Saturday, and I'd have to say both the 4x800 and 1600 were probably the most exciting events there.
States for us is next weekend. It's very possible we could see some fast races, however, since the races are broken up into D1 and D2, it probably won't be as exciting.
Counties are normally good, because you see the D1 powerhouses (Sallies and Charter) against the dominant D2 school, Tatnall. In terms of distance running, there aren't really any amazing schools downstate.
This year for Delaware distance running has been a bit strange. We've seen a ton of fast times, but it's very few people posting those times. The number of people who are considered "elite" within the state has stayed the same, or increased, but the number of "sub-elites" has dropped considerably.
I've compiled some of the stats so you can see the change

It'll be very interesting to see who steps up next year. Tatnall, arguably the best distance school in the state, seems more beatable then ever, with their best runner graduating, and their performance declining.
At this point, it's all about consistency. Whoever can get a group of guy consistently to the 16:30 range could very well take states. This means some smaller schools, such as Tower Hill (or hopefully my own school), are starting to become competitive against these powerhouse schools like Tatnall.
Anyway, that's just some insight into whats going on with Delaware distance running. States should be good for next weekend. Hopefully we'll see some races as exciting as those ones.
