Hey there everyone, first time posting here, and I need some opinions on my current situation:
Next Tuesday, it's going to be my 3rd week off after having a stress fracture on the 2nd metatarsal of my right foot. When I was in the hospital, the Dr said it would take 6 to 8 weeks before it would be healed, so I guess I'm next to half way point. Currently I can walk around the house, although to go to work I still use the crutches.
But my question is, I was planning to do the Lisbon Marathon on October 18th and since I wanted to do as close to 18 weeks of training as possible (starting on June 15th), should I still try train for it or skip it?
I know some people might say I have plenty of time, but after returning from an injury I usually take quite a while, before gaining back my previous fitness. Based on my previous experience, it might take me a full month before I go gain my lost fitness (and this by being optimistic that I only stop for 6 weeks).
Before the stop, I was doing around 130km per week (with 3 doubles), and I was aiming for 2h40min in the Marathon.
