Don't waste your money. the new Alexander movie is absolutely ridiculous. Poor cinematography, prolonged, verbose, and for all you homophobes- one too many longing gazes between men. Don't waste your time or money on this one.

I saw that movie the other day. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! worst movie that I have seen in a long time. Disgraceful acting, and one too many gay scenes.
You know, I was equally disappointed with Alexander. I have always been a big fan of Mr. Stone's work, yet here he just blew it. And you know what the main culprit is? It's the facking music. This movie would kick ass had it either no music, or just occasional african tribal sounds.
WORST MOVIE OF THE YEAR!!!!! i wanted to kill myself watching this film. they made a hero like alexander look like a queer, weak freak. digusted.
Do you guys ever read reviews before going to movies? You might save yourself some grief and money...there hasn't been a remotely good review for that movie.
reviews are usually noy indicative of the movie from my past experiences. go with national treasure if you want a good one.
Remember when they ran into that persian love shack and it showed hot girl after hot girl then panned to a feminate and pretty dude??
GAY.
How many scenes did the movie need with men staring into eachothers' eyes? How many man on man kisses? How man gay gay gay things does that gay gay and gay?
Gay gay gay gay, gay gay! Gay, gay gay gay homosexual gay gay. Gay? Gay!
Gay gay gay-gay.
I understand that there would ve a lot of people on here who have trouble with a movie with homosexual undertones.
BUT, many historians note that Alexander the Great was likely gay or at the very least, bi-sexual leaning towards the men.
Haven't seen the movie and maybe it has horrible acting, but don't hate on it simply because it is accurate in its portrayal of Alexander's sex life.

Please, Oliver Stone and Jan Wenner are not historians. Alexander the Great was not a gay icon.
This trash is typical of the film industry in general, were gays and jews are way over represented.

I'm not the one who said Stone or Wenner were historians. Maybe YOU think that Stone is the expert on Vietnam just because he directed 'Platoon' or that he knows who shot Kennedy just because he directed 'JFK.' But if you would take the time to stop by any book store, be it a commercial one like Borders or Barnes & Noble or even a local used book store, you're bound to come across a lot of books that turn the 'popular' view of historical figures on their heels, i.e. the numerous historians who believe that Alexander the Great was indeed a fairy.
Funny sometimes how people who can notice propaganda & spins & controversies in our contemporary world seem to think that those kinds of things, for example, a gay ruler hundreds of years ago couldn't have happened. Do you REALLY think that these gay Senators and Representatives are the first of their type?!?!
Malarkey, they've been around for YEARS!!!
As for gays and Jews being over represented, I respectfully disagree. I just think that the gays portrayed in film are more flamboyant than the ones you meet in real life. As for Jews, all you have to do is turn around and there's one standing right next to you these days.
"homosexual undertones"?!? how about freaking overtones. i didn't pay 8 bucks to go see men lust after each other. what a waste!

Haven't seen the movie yet. Will probably wait til it comes out at the dollar theater. Was it literally 2+ hours of gay scenes? No scenes of battle or armies at war ala' Gladiator or Troy?
people seem to have no problems with straight sex on the screen, straight overtones/undertones, straight whatever. everyone knew what the movie was going to be like and if you didn't, you were stupid. yes, alexander was, at the very least, bisexual. anyone who's taken a course on greek history/mythology knows that this wasn't particularly uncommon and was generally accepted in their society. it's a biopic. if he had been straight, i guarantee there wouldn't have been any complaining on this board that the movie sucked solely because he was kissing women and making lusty glances towards the ladies.
we've got a bunch of men here who are threatened by this and can't get over the fact that gay people exist in the world and do things like kiss one another. just another example of the sort of tolerance there is for gays: don't mind them as long as we don't see them.
Alexander was most likely bisexual if you want to be historically correct. But then again, I guess the facts don't matter much these days.

Bullshit. Jews and gays each represent less than 2% of the population. Hollywood is dominated by Jews. They do not hire outside of their own.
Indeed.
Stone had an agenda, it seems. I question how you could go wrong with the product, as the main character was one of history's most intriguing figures and a sympathetic
approach may have worked. Remember, like him or not, Alexander HAD to have been charismatic and some sort of organizational and military genius to have achieve what he did at such a precocious age.
I'll wait for this one on video. Maybe. When there is that much buzz pre-release I have suspicions.
On the other hand "Chronicles of Riddick" which I recently rented was better than I had anticipated, as was the last "Harry Potter" release.
are they taking a census of homosexuals now? wow. do they do trannies and straights, too? and just to set the record straight, jews represent a bit more than 2% of the population, roughly 2.4%, i believe.
i must say, it\'s rather strange to be enacting quotas for how much representation a given group should have. say whassup to adolf when you see him, the crabs.

Your predictable Nazi-baiting aside, Jews represent less than 1.9% (2001) of the population. The highest percentage ever was in 1937 (3.0%)

I'm not going to see it, just because I don't think Alexander the Great should have an Irish accent.
