Is she related to Chuck Aragon Notre Damer?

Connelly did recruit Siedel and both Aragon's.
It was probably Carlson pumping himself up on his recruiting but incase it wasnt before you congratulate him too much on this recruiting class remember that he was in charge of recruiting the men for the last 4-5 years and look how terrible they are. Either Sparks is a great recruiter or ND recruits its self. Im leaning more towards the latter.
Another thing to remember with women is you do not necessarily want the best high school girls - you want the ones that are going to be great in college. There is a reason that Roher ended up at ND - the top schools (Stanford, etc) were scared of her.
IMO the number 1 recruiting class is Colorado on the women's side

True. Let me rephrase my sentiments....I do think MD runners can run good XC and also believe XC can benefit many MD runners. However, I also believe there are too many coaches in the NCAA that ruin MD talent by going too far with XC training.
I think better(and more modern) comparison's within the NCAA system would be: Webb, Wheating, Centro, Leo, Symmonds, Cain, Kampf, Moser, etc. It is a different world than it was 20-40 years ago. Ryun's 3:33 WR would have been around 20th in the world last year.
Aragon's dad, Hacker's dad and Fricker's dad all in one race...
Christina's a pretty girl. T&F has a new face....

Any evidence for that? Would be surprised if top schools literally didn't want her.
I think her living ten minutes from Notre Dame might have something more to do with it.
And yes, I would agree that ND recruits itself.
I was in the Coliseum in '84 for the Trials and watched Chuck Aragon mis-time a lunge to the finish and allowing Sydney Maree to claim the 3rd and final 1500m spot on the Olympic Team. I felt for the guy as I watched him walk in despair and eventually break down in the Steeple pit. At the same moment, Dwight Stones reclaimed the AR in the High Jump, cemented his comeback and made the team. I have never seen such a contrast in emotion. I really felt for the guy but saw that he has had a Very good life.
Back to Christina.
When is her next race?

Talented family. Their mother was also quite fast in her prime and qualified for the Olympic marathon trials 5 or 6 times (I think qualifying close to 50 years old). Chuck is now an anesthesiologist in Billings and can still put people in a world of hurt on a bicycle.
Not to burst anyone's bubble, but she ran a 4:16 1500m. Not the mile. I'm not saying its bad because it's not; it's still the number one high school time if converted to the mile; I'm just saying it wasn't the mile so Mary Cain and all the others mentioned have run faster. All in all, congrats to the girl, she ran amazing.

I saw it too but mostly was impressed with Spivey's great kick.
Too bad Aragon didn't make it as well.

You are correct, both moments where happening at the same time. Most people were focusing on Dwight and applauding the 1500 guys that made the team, but those of us who knew Chuck were watching him. Absolutely no shame in not making that team and losing to Sidney. A lot of good athletes didn't make that team, myself included. The 1984 Olympic Trials was over 3 decades ago and from top to bottom, the 800m and 1500m finals are still the most competitive races featuring U.S. athletes. Because of the boycott 4 years earlier, for a lot of athletes, making the '84 team was the only Olympic team they would have a shot at. A lot of the athletes who didn't make that team never raced again...sad, very sad. Also, because the Olympics were going to be in the U.S. that year, every athlete who could breath was at that meet.

Didn't he miss the Olympic team because of Jimmy Carter and his Democratic ilk?

Wow, those were some terrible haircuts. Not pumpkinhead brojo-ugly hair, but still pretty awful.

I think he's right, I looked it up one time and I think she ran at New Mexico. Can't remember now though. First name Cindy or Kathy maybe?

**And then I looked it up again so I didn't look like an idiot
"Their mother, Kathleen Pfiefer Aragon, a California native, ran for the University of New Mexico in the mid-1980s. Her times in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters, 30 years later, still rank her among the 10 best in program history. "

I can see why Roher chose ND--she's Catholic, she lives nearby, its a great academic school, its great to be a jock at a jock school, etc.
Also, being wooed by the Mollys (Seidel and Huddle) can't hurt.
And Sparks is a very good coach. Maybe not a Milt or Wetmore, but very solid.

From the subject line I am guessing 4 other woman have run faster:) And I am pretty sure you were the only person on the board who thought a HS girl was running a 4:16 mile.
