This girl seems to come out of almost nowhere (well, Montana) dropping from 4:44 mile PR to 4:16:

Jeez, just realized she's a HS junior.
Poor girl, she can hardly breathe.
I'm assuming she's related to the ND clan of 4:12 1500m runner Dani Aragon, Alexa Aragon who is pretty fast, and Chuck Aragon who was a collegiate sub 4 miler?
Awesome running
Christina's Father is Art (?) Aragon of Notre Dame, who just missed Olympic team at 1,500.

Yes she is.
Notre Dame women's team is a team to watch. Flotrack rated them #1 recruiting class. And I'm pretty sure Christina's going to be a Domer too.
Correction: Chuck Aragon. Sorry.
I remember Chuck Aragon well. Congratulations to him and his daughter! That is pretty sweet to go from 4:44 mile to 4:16 1500m, roughly a 7 second pr, as 4:44 mile converts by 1.08 to 4:23 1500m. And a junior in hs. This is certainly the golden age of high school female middle distance runners in this country with Cranny, Efraimson, Hasay, Cain, and now Aragon all running 4:16 or better.
One of the most exciting Olympic Trials races ever.
Thanks for that link. Amazing how young we looked! I had forgotten about "Etonic" as well...
just shows you how bad Connelly was at recruiting. Sparks / Carlson bring in the #1 class that quickly.
They will start to be where ND should be on the womens side
Because having the #1 recruiting class ALWAYS pans out! Just ask Stanford, Duke, UCLA, etc....
This girl is a stud. Hope she picks a coach that values her as a track runner first and will NOT ruin her speed with cross country. She has run 56.5 and 4:16 this year. She could be a national class (or better) MD runner.

Chuck Aragon was much more than just a collegiate sub-4 miler.
He was a 3:51.62 miler and 3:34.85 in the 1500m as a pro, .

Interesting, early leader Mark Fricker is dad of McKayla Fricker, DII 800 champ, who now trains with Efraimson.
I was on the junior AAU team for USA vs USSR in 1978 (Donyetsk), and Chuck Aragon and Todd Harbour were our 800m runners. They both became very strong 1500/milers in the 80s.
Thanks, malmo, great video

Because cross country ruined Coe and Ovett's speed ? and Ryun and Wottle?

Connelly was still around when Siedel and the elder Aragon came in I'm almost certain
Harbour ran 3:50 in college, as I recall.
