I pointed out before the Turkey Trot, that Mike would resort to cheating. He really has no legitimate chance to run sub 20 before the end of the year. So he resorts to what he knows, if he gets caught, it does not matter, everyone knows he is a cheater, if he gets away with it, he feels redeemed and it will be on every social media outlet he can post on .
If Mike can run a sub 20-here is what he can do. Post up on Facebook, Twitter, and in Letsrun a Date, a Time, and location. Invite any media that might want to follow the story. Go to his kids school and ask if he can do a charity event to use the track at the school. Charge 2.00 with all the proceeds going to the school. Then with everyone there-simply run a sub 20. It is a win, win for Mike. He proves without doubt he can actually run sub 20. (instead of sneaking around, signing up under fake names, ect.) He helps the school/makes amends/ for the letter to the principle, raising money for their athletic program.
Smartrunnr-YOU know as well as I that it he will not go this route. WHY? He can to run a legit sub 20. If he could he would be upfront and transparent about it.
The "Results Soon" post...Every race I have ever done, I know as soon as I am done what my chip time is. (plus or minus 2 sec). He had no idea what his time was, as he did not "start" the chip time. He thought by getting a 45 second "head start" he would break 20, but not know exact when his chip crossed the mat, he could not post up a time on twitter. ONLY once it figured out he did not make it, and the huge difference between gun and chip time the shoe/injury cropped up. If the injury, shoe had been true, that would have been the first post on twitter.
Right now, he is a 21 minute 5k runner. If he wants to prove otherwise the burden of proof is on him and he should welcome the chance to prove himself by being upfront and letting everyone know where and when.
