We all wear black hats and/or perhaps red wigs? Kind of like Mike's Matrix?

Maybe I suggest a $31.10 registration fee?
I love this idea. And maybe some of the $31.10 can go toward videographers on the course? Because Philly to Boston, baby.
5000 meters is 5000 meters and without solid proof no way would they have to pay out $10k to a known cheat. Fraud isn't exactly a benign condition.

Agreed about a fair attempt at a real 5K that was really not less than 5000 metres and without cheating . . . . .

Nothing more inspiring than watching Mike, the doer of deeds, daring greatly while actually in the arena, his face marred with dirt and sweat and blood. Brings a tear to my eye.
"Let's do this!"
Well, if he were ever really in shape to do it, he should invite someone to follow him the entire time, preferably with a video camera. Stealthily finishing a race and then telling everyone afterwards "I did it!" is not the sign of someone who has been training and is confident in his fitness.
That's what got him in trouble in the first place.

Darn you! Like a bad movie or song, I can't not watch this. Over and over. It's awkward and painful. But so very Rossi.

Whats up Philly? Philly to Boston, baby!
Any opportunity to post that video is a good opportunity. And fortunately for me I stopped it before the music began or the mug appeared. I had a good workout this morning and didn't want to ruin the day.Maybe tomorrow.

I agree, but two things:
1) It's true that in the challenge, rojo only specified a "standard" course for the marathon and 10k, and not the 5k. I do think you could infer from context that he meant all 3 challenges were meant to be run on a standard course.
2) In the challenge, he never defined "standard" as meaning "not downhill", as he later clarified on the boards.
I would be more worried about the missing "not downhill" stipulation, because you can BQ on a downhill course, so it's not like a reasonable person would automatically think that downhill courses would be exempt.
If I were putting $10k on the line, I would've def stipulated whether a net downhill course qualifies or not. I am not a lawyer, but I would've probably been a bit more specific about the conditions of the challenge. Something as simple as "the challenge is to break 20:00 for a flat 5k course, 19:30 for a net downhill 5k course" or whatever.
Having said that, I kinda doubt there's a race steep enough for Rossi to break 20 minutes in 2015. If he could run a 20:30 on a flat course today, maybe.

Sorry, meant 10 miles, not 10k
Perhaps with the few weeks left for the 5k challenge some quality downhill training would be possible. Although hard on the quads it's only 3 miles so the hurt would really come the next day or two. Still, a 22 min guy going sub 20 downhill might find face planting a real possibility. (insert your joke here)Are there any steep downhill 5ks out there before the end of the year where he could attempt this feat of strength? Even if he went sub 20 going downhill it would still show what he had to do to get there and not an indicator of a 3:11 marathoner. But $10k would be worth it imo.As for running 3:11 at any race, not going to happen.

That would be a win for him.
Twitter would just say "Sub-20 minutes and LR had to pay up."
Vast majority of people wouldn't care to know the specs of the course, just as they don't understand the 3:11 impossibility.
However, $10k is a pittance for the types of cash/headlines this thread is pulling in for Brojos. In a strange was, all the freak OCD posters on this thread are working part time for Brojos.
sometimes I open that video, let it run in the background, while I catch up on my letsrun reading. it's inspirational. then the voice comes. "still in the game baby!"
gotta love it. philly to boston. see you at heartbrek hill!
The obvious remedy here to see if he can break 20:00 for a 5k is to stick Rossi on a treadmill, set the pace to 6:25 per mile, and see how long he can hang on until the ramp spits him out the back.

I'd pay to see that...and I am a cheapskate.

I'd pay for two videographers just to watch that over and over.
GENIUS! I'd pay _blank check_ to see that event live.

I'll foot the bill for Ken to be videographer. Btw he can DJ at the same time.
