What happened at the Turkey Trot episode?
Oh, where to begin. On Thanksgiving 2015 weekend, Mike hauled his cookies all the way to Haddon, New Jersey to cheat at a Turkey Trot to try to "prove" he could run a sub-20 5k and collect on the Brojos challenge, because, as you know, this is what normal people in their right minds do on Holiday weekends. Any-hoo, he tripped the timing mat with his chip some 30+ seconds after the start gun went off, crossing the line with the back of the pack, dicked around the starting line for a awhile, then mistimed the race clock AGAIN (a la Via marathon), although this time he crossed the finish time too late and "clocked" a chip time of 20:20 (around there, anyway). Letsrunners recognized he "Kipped" the race because of the discrepancy in his chip vs. clock time, so to explain this glaring error, Mike tweeted he experienced a "shoe malfunction" at the start of the race, delaying his crossing the start line. This excuse actually failed to explain anything (if this had happened, he would have had to pass almost the entire field on his way to his brand new "PR"). For his heroic efforts, he apparently stepped in a hole or caught a curb, probably on the way back to his car, and wrenched his ankle, which forever cemented November 28, 2015 as the day "The Strong Man Stumbled."
The above is completely insane, and sadly, 100% true.
