AJ is showing to be a committed and resilient runner. He has been out of college for a few years now, but it really running well of late. Last weekend he finished third in the mile behind only Leo and Centro, now this excellent 5K.
Keep it up AJ, you have our 100% support for what you are doing.
Ya I'm no "fanboy" but he did get second at NCAAs in the 15 behind Wheating, back when Wheating was a freaking beast. Not exactly a "fail" if you ask me.
Who is he training with?
Didn't he move from San Diego where he was training on his own to San Francisco to run with a group there?
Did that fall through as he appears to be running unattached and isn't wearing any group gear or logos?
If he's still training on his own and working part or full-time, this is very impressive as he is running some pretty fast times so far this season.

Not sure who he is training with in BATC, but he is being coached by Tom Kloos, his former high school coach, who coached him to his Footlocker win. Kloos now is associate head XC and track coach at St. Mary's.

That's not exactly anything at all. It's a meaningless statement. How far back was he? Solely listing his proximity to Wheating is only meaningful if he finished in front of Shearing. Was it a sit and kick race? Was it a fast pace? Need more info before you can conclude how well he ran in that race.
ATTN AJ
Can you tell us about your current training and racing plans? What are your goals? Olympic team? 1500, 5k, steeple?? With your speed and your former steeplechaser coach is that on the table?
Good luck and don't be afraid to call your shot!
Underarmour has some sick shoes and they need AJ. Let's help him get it.
Hey Yay J get off his jock. The guy was a self absorbed prick in high school who was inflated more by his coach and jock monkeys like you. You clearly had/have no pulse of San Diego if you think people in these parts like him. Nobody liked him except your little group of flag waving body painted homers.
El Camino, nice. Made me laugh.
Basically, I root for all runners, so "Go, AJ!"
Enjoy The Sport!
good updated for AJ....keep it up
I am happy for AJ, not so much for the haters. BTW e harmony seems to be the "masterhater" around here. Can anyone imagine what a miserable person he must be?
Count me in on hoping AJ kicks some ass. He's hungry and he's going about his business quietly.
His old hs coach is the reason for his success. Go AJ nation! WAs NOT a fan in HS, but I AM now.

All your answers are a google search away. Wheating, Acosta and Centrowitz went 1-2-3 in 2010, close together.
Doesn't really say much about his current fitness or the wisdom of sticking with running this far past the typical markers of success, a WC team qualifier or a PR, or whatever. But it's his life and I don't know what the opportunity costs for him are or how he perceives them.
I wasn't crazy about him comparing himself to a workhorse in 2010 at the Pac-10 champs, seems like the kind of thing you need to let other people say about you. Then some point in the past few years he wrote about how challenging it was to run on shoes with 800 miles on them because he wasn't getting free gear. Seemed like a bit of a martyr complex, or like he was comparing himself to the few people who really make it in professional running and saying it was unfair and not to all the billions of people on earth for whom the leisurely lifestyle of aspiring professional runner and part time barrista would be extremely pleasurable.
13:35 and 4:01 looks like he is a top 15 collegiate athlete. I also remember him running faster in the mike a few years ago... YAWN
I like AJs attitude, reminds me of marc davis. keep with it man
Where is AJ these days? I did not see him in Rio....
Isn't AJ back home in Dago?
