Earlier this year, I had my peak race, however since then my performances have been in decline, probably due to an intense week or 2 after the race.Around 2 weeks after my peak race, I deteriorated, running 1 minute slower than I did at my peak . I blame this on intense speed sessions in the weeks between sessions.I took 6 weeks off from intense running, then returned and did 3 tough sessions in 3 weeks, and then raced poorly again. (Around 40 seconds or so worse over 5k). I have decided to not run outdoor track, which means I don't have to race to late october. I have exhibited all the signs and symptoms of overtraining such as sleeping problems, extreme thirst, dead/heavy legs, unable to increase speed at the end of races, moody etc. How should I go about recovering from overtraining, I will gladly cut out all intense work this summer, but will I be able to build a base with easy aerobic mileage?
