So I'm a 43 male who just qualified with a 3:13:40. Do I have any hope of getting in when I register in the fall? How much under the standard did you need to be for this age group last year? I'm going to try to run a faster one in early Sept, but wanted to know if this time gives me any chance of getting in??

Not without learning how to use the word, 'into'.
1:38 under for 2014, 1:02 under for 2015. The 2014 field was expanded but the demand was really high. (I'm not sure how many more qualified runners got in though.) Demand returned to normal for the race in 2015, so I would think the margin will continue to be lower than one minute. You should be good.
Keep in mind that's from a sample size of two, so you could also be bad.

Ok, thanks for the input. Sounds like I have a shot but should focus on shaving off another 3-5 minutes in September. The good news is that I started this one conservatively and finished with some left in the tank.
