Okay LRC, let's see if we can have a quality-controlled conversation (I don't need to hear 'oh I ran a 2:25 marathon on 20km/week training') about a 26-week marathon training program that I'm going to undertake for a late September race.
My PB's (2013/2014) are 16:30, 33:40, 55:00 (10 miles), and have never really run a HM on training but probably would be in the 1:16-17 range. Currently, after 4 months off I'm back in the game and am in sub 18-5km shape.
I'm thinking about peaking at 50-60 miles per week (progressing gradually to that point in the 3rd quarter of training)
The goal for the marathon is:
a) sub-3 hours (happy)
b) sub 2:55 (happier)
c) sub 2:50 (happiest)
The questions are as follows:
1) What is an 'ideal' amount of mileage for someone to do to reach the above goals given the PBs listed?
2) Are the goals listed doable? should they be changed?
Any other questions or thoughts?
