After a 4 month hiatus since graduating college this fall, I decided I've had enough time away from running. Now with a stable job and consistent routine, I want to peruse competition once again.
So letsrun community, I want to ask YOU to train me towards my first marathon.
Here's a little background information of my collegiate career:
5k- 14:46
1500- 4:01
8k xc- 24:45
10k xc -31:03
Mileage: peak average around 80-85
Realistically with several months of good hard training I think I am capable of mid to low 2:30's. I have access to 12+ miles of trails along the Charles River in Boston a decent sized fitness center.
I understand there will be a range of opinions of day to day activity, so I'm hoping together we can all find a common ground. If I'm hearing people say get out for 12 or others saying doing a solid 14, I'll base the run around a range of 12-14.
I will report in every day as if you were a real coach, commenting on how I felt, the weather, etc.
Today was my first run in 4 months. I ran 20 minutes easy (730am) and my calfs already feel a little sore (8:25am).
What should I do tomorrow, letsrun?
