How do you think a guy like Kipsang would fare on a bike? Chris Froome seems pretty afraid of what he could do.
For you non-metric people, Froome is 6'1", 157lbs, and Kipsang is 6'0", 137lbs.
i would think cyclists would inherently have more muscle. i'm sure kipsang could train himself into an absolute monster on a bike but i think it's less of a blanket advantage to be that thin as a cyclist versus a runner. world class cyclists definitely have a bit more meat on their legs than runners.
Unless Kipsang already has some experience riding a bike, there's no way he'd get competitive. There's too much skill involved in handling the bike. Without it you'll spend all your time recoving from broken collar bones
The average recreational cyclist would roast Kipsang, especially on the downhills. He's so specialized for running that it would be way too late in life for him to transition, and he could hardly generate any watts or torque with such a slim physique.
