So the brothers think Mutai is done winning majors (and I do not necessarily disagree with that) but think Ryan Hall can come back?
How do you figure that? Somehow GM is done but RH can still come back?????
Please explain.

Maybe Ryan Hall has better access to physical therapy and rehabilitative treatments?
Also, we can relate to him and want him to do well
Hall is closer to God, therefore a greater chance of him winning than mutai.
Depends on how you define things. I'm too lazy to look it up, but did the Brojos say they thought Hall could win a major? Run a PR? If so, then your point is well made. If they're saying he'll get back to running 2:11, 2:12 and make the 16 team, then I agree with them. He's only 33, he certainly has the talent.
On the other hand, winning a major requires being one of the 10 or so best marathoners in the world, plus being pretty lucky on the day. Mutai will not win another major.
The Brojos are generally dumb (Rojo moreso than the other one) but surely you realize the nuance of the two positions, yes?
Mutai winning another WMM is an entirely different proposition than Ryan Hall squeaking out a top three finish at the American OT marathon. It is possible that Hall could get third with a 2:12 or so (and that's assuming both Meb and Ritz get to the starting line uninjured). Sure, it's possible that it will take a sub 2:10 again to make the Olympics for the marathon, but given recent results across the board, I'd put the chance of that happening at less than 10%.
Meanwhile, Mutai is going to need to be in 2:04 shape to win a WMM (the field is not letting him get away a la Meb in Boston 2014). And if even if he gets in slower paced race, there are going to be a lot of other east Africans in contention right with him, so chances of winning go down.
Bottom line, the bar that Hall needs to reach to "come back" according to the Brojos is much much lower than Mutai needs to reach to win another WMM.
Mr. Mutai was great at the 2011 NYC Marathon.
That was long ago in the sport of marathoning though.
Runners seem to only be able to stay at that extremely high level for a couple of years.
Mr. Hall also seems to have peaked in 2011.
He was very popular with his fellow runners at Chicago in 2011 when he came out of the tent to get to the starting line.
People love the guy and want to see him be successful.
No disconnect. They only said he can come back and qualify for the Olympics. Qualifying for the Olympics is easier than winning a major marathon, right?
Both would seem to be extremely difficult.
Remember, in 2012, two of the three spots went to foreign-born American citizens.
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
