What should I do after the 1600m at track meets to prepare for the 800m, which is usually about 45 minutes after the 1600m? Should I eat anything? What should my cooldown, if any, or warmup be?
The reason I'm asking is because not being recovered has seriously hurt my 800m this season. I know that I'm not going to run as fast as I can fresh after an all-out 1600, but I'd like to at least improve to where I can be competitive in both the 1600 and 800 at the bigger meets. At every meet I have run this year, my 800 has been barely faster than my 800 split in the 1600. I would appreciate it if anyone could give me tips on what to do in-between races.
