Now that Cheserek has gotten worked by Lawi, Jenkins, and now Williamsz, oh how I hope the Flotrack turds stop referring to him as The King. Probably silly to be bothered so much by something trivial, but I hate it. He sits on people in nearly every race. I understand the point is to win, but sheesh, share some work once in awhile, dude. Was absolutely wonderful to see him get beat today.
I'll just point out that nearly every runner in any given championship race goes to fairly great lengths to avoid leading. The only exception is typically the 1-2 runners who do decide to lead, and it's very rare that they ever manage to win.
For example, Dejen Gebremeskel a few years ago gave an interview in which he said he's "melt Farah's lungs" or something similar in the championship. Come time for the championship, Gebremeskel refused to lead and got outkicked.
In the race you're describing, Williamsz also went to great lengths to avoid leading in the race. In fact, it was a combination of Cheserek trying to pass the lead and Williamsz repeatedly slowing in response to it that caused the huge slowdown in the first place. You more or less just watched a guy who sits and kicks get beaten by another guy who sits and kicks. And for some reason you're more happy that one of them one than the other?
