Is the fastest anyone has closed a mile in history? It was still a 4:16 overall. Discus.

You don't know where the 200 line is
According to the Penn Relays results, it was 4:13.6 for Williamz on the anchor. And I agree, you may not know where the 200 mark is. The track is very strange.
This happened last year when people thought Drew Hunter closed in 26. You are looking at the wrong line for 200m on the Penn track.
so you're telling me he ran a 22.xx for the last 200?
I think that the 200 to go mark is the first line at the end of the backstretch. If that's the case, I took his split and got 24.6. That sounds about right for that race.
How does any one not know where the 200m mark is?

???? 200m to go is the same on every track.

You're not wrong Malmo, but you're not right either.

It was a very tactical race, but not 4:16. Penn Relays website had Williamsz at 4:13.6 for the anchor.
Williamsz went 52 for the last 400. I saw Maree do that once, but he ran 3:00 for the first 300.

Not a big deal at that level. Keffri Neal did it in last year's SEC meet, for example.

Well, first off; it wasn't a mile. It was a 1600. Second off...yeah that's all I have.
I didn't say it was a big deal.
Also, was Neal's time 3:52 for the mile at the SEC meet?
Maree's 52 final lap was in the race in which he beat Steve Scott, among others
It was, in fact, a mile.

take a look:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f8/Franklin_Field_aerial.jpg200 to go isn't the obvious line. 200 to go is around the 30 yard line though, just before the 7th lane stagger for the 200m. I took the split from about that point while re-watching it and got 25.3. Seems reasonable.
You're a college soph, you can be forgiven. Just look at the videos of the 5000m. See where they start? 200m to go. Mystery solved, Sherlock.
