I'm not 100% sure where i should put this topic, but I want to go to the special forces for the Navy. I'm pretty good at going above and beyond on majority of the physical standards, however my run sucks! I need to run a 1.5 mile in 10:30 or under, I always get 10:10. They tell me thats not good enough, which is very true. A lot of other guys get 8-9 minutes. They told me they don't want me back until i get it around 9:30-9:45. I've tried everything, Im now running monday-friday. Monday I run 5 miles, Tues I time my 1.5 mile and then sprint the straight aways and jog the curves for 1 mile. Then Wed I run 3 miles, Thursday I've been running the Watson Fartlek by running 4 minutes 70% speed then 1 minute jog and repeat 4 rounds of this, I do 3-4 strides before and 2-3 strides of 150 after. Friday I run on the beach 5 miles. I managed to get my time from 10:24 to a 10:10. I just feel like I'm trying so hard, but get no results or minimal results. Im 25 and times ticking, I wish I could get a 9:50 and I'd be happy. Anyone know what else i can do? Please, I'm willing to take any advice.
