I've just completed the 2015 Boston Marathon. In 2014 I ran Boston at 3:12:43 and then I ran a qualifying race at 3:06:43 (pancake flat). I lost 25+ lbs since 1/1 and follow a modified Paleo diet. I ran about 5 times a week, averaging 55 or so miles a week. The Boston winter was tough to train, so I didn't do much speed work, but ran the Newton hills 5-6x and was ready for them.
Anyway, I was running strong after Heartbreak, I started to feel my calf cramp at mile 25 (see splits). It never really hit, but I knew if I pushed myself I may not have been able to finish the race. I have no real running background and this my 3rd marathon. I am 38 years old. I didn't feel dehydrated at all. I felt great after HH, and was able to pick up the pace. What happened to me at the end of this race? Why did I start to cramp? How do I fix this for 2016?
