What kind of workouts are best for slow twitchers? I know long runs and tempos are best, but what about interval stuff? For 5k training should it be mostly longer intervals (1000m+) at race pace with short jogging recoveries?

I'm having trouble pulling it up right now.
Find the Hadd/Cabral thread, train like Lopes.
Run the repeats slower and the mileage between workouts faster.

are you new to running?
it's hard to generalize so much - everyone is different, and you will even be different now vs. a year from now.
The best plan is always to follow a well thought out strategy - run all paces, work all your systems and see what works.
Personally, I am a classic slow twitch guy and it's differnet every year - sometimes I can get to peak shape with a lot of tempos and races....other times I have to do more interval type work. Part of it is mental, I'm sure.
Look up pete magill's solving the 5k puzzle article - you won't go wrong following that for a 6months.
In the words of Hadd, for a slow twitch runner...

I was wondering the same thing. How can you tell without a biopsy? Is there another reliable test?
