But seriously, how would that work logistically? He will be on at least 4 flights that take hours [Hawaii & Alaska]. Will he do two in a day?
Not to mention he will probably drop dead in a ditch somewhere in a flyover state during his 22nd "Ironman."
I am not going to hate on this guy. I wish him the best and I hope that he accomplishes his goal. I am a little confused about the general vagueness of the money he is raising. How is it going to help fat kids? Even the "awareness" aspect is better than nothing, though.
I will say this, though. I have noticed quite a few people making absurd claims, getting media attention and then failing miserably at their intended target. Of course no media outlets cover the failure. I am not sure I want the media to cover the failure, but I am seeing more and more of these things take place and I think it is due to the lack of accountability.

Article says Hawaii & Alaska are first and second on the list. Kind of makes sense to do the first tri in Hawaii, anyway. Apparently his Guinness record is he's done 30 Ironman-distance events in a year, so he's got some background. It will be interesting to see how much he can do ... hopefully, he doesn't fall asleep in the water,
Can't see it happening. Even if he does these in 12 hours, how can he cover the travel in the west? New Mexico to Montana in four days with four 12 hour ironmen? Arizona to Idaho in three days? Washington to Alaska to Hawaii in three days?
This reminds me in a way of Chet "The Jet" Blanton doing a double-deca Ironman. Different type of event, however.

However, I don't know if that will be the case after riding 5600 miles on a tri bike.

I wonder about the "rules of the game." Will he complete certified courses? Does he just have to complete the appropriate distance in each state? E.g, Riding 112 miles is easier if you can pick your route, pick your direction with the prevailing wind...
I remember a couple years back when Jennifer Pharr Davis through hiked the Appalachian Trail in 47 days, which I wouldn't have thought possible.

I don't think there are certified courses in even half the states, so he'd have to GPS himself.
112 miles is not a walk in the park no matter the course. That being said, I think he would need to pick less difficult courses to minimize the wear and tear on his body.
Even worse, imagine hitting the ground 2.5 million times in less than 2 months on spent legs. (26.2*50*~2000 strides/mile).
Honestly, I think this IS possible but very, very unlikely. Everything would need to go perfectly. No bad crashes, no injuries, no sickness. Even then, I think he is asking for premature arthritis or something equally horrible.
It would be great if he proves me wrong.... but damn - 5 kids at home?
I believe this will be impossible. He seems to average around 12 hrs to do an Ironman in a real race situation. Imagine day after day the time sliding to 14, 15, 16 hours. There's not enough hours in the day at that point to rest, travel, recharge. I hope he proves me wrong, but I doubt it.
