Jeb Bush 2016.
When someone can't spell pejorative correctly I feel the same way.
I prefer to use the words filthy rich ... bc some are clean rich
The word is spelled pejorative. When you typed it in and it was underlined in red, that meant it was spelled WRONG.
Almost no one uses WEALTHY as a pejorative.
Many use the word "wealthy", describing people who think they would be WEALTHY, if only, they paid half as much in taxes as a pejorative. They are not WEALTHY. They will not be WEALTHY if they paid half as much in taxes. They just haven't done enough but don't understand taxes have nothing to do with it.
Rich lefties = clean.
Rich righties = mud-stained pigs.
...I'm hearing some fashionable (white) lefties using the epithet 'rich white' as an insult - they are just trying to slam the door shut and make we understand that both are bad.
Say what now?
Chris Christie 2016. Lets give the guy a raise. He has 4 kids and a wife and only makes $700K a year. He is looking a little gaunt also. Probably missing 3rd breakfast to save money.
Because there has never been an example of great wealth corrupting a person.
Careful, start getting into that communal aspect of Christianity that Christ practiced. That doesn't fly with the American Christian. Can't buy your big SUV if you are helping others too much. Need that money to buy a big house so you can hang that crucifix up in the foyer. All about God to the American Christian until you raise capital gains taxes. American Christianity is so far from Christianity that they should have different names. American bible, IRS = devil, cash = Christ.

well to be fair, there is very little behavior mandated in christianity. Most 'favorable' behaviors have been grafted onto the religion over the centuries.
Certainly, desire for wealth has been a part of the religion for several hundred years at a minimum.
weird how popular christianity is - it is so formless. What is it? Most religions have a code of behavior - christianity really doesn't, beyond a few platitudes.
another question is what exactly is the communal aspect of christianity that you say the big man practiced?

Good point. The other day someone said to me: "There were Nazis that became wealthy by sending Jews yo concentration camps and stealing their riches."
And I just thought in my head "what a total loser."
Matthew 9:16-22, 27-29
Mark 10:17-22, 28-30
Luke 18:18-23
John 13:35
(above cover same situation)
Luke 12
Luke 18:28-30
Luke 19:1-10
And early Church
Acts 2:33-37
Acts 2:43-45
New Testament has great detail on how Christians are supposed to behave. Just pick a passage. Very little desire for wealth in the early Christian church that didn't result in Christ or other follower correcting. I guess you could call it formless, but American evangelicals have come up with their preferred "form" and if it doesn't include their political motives then you can't play.

Good to know.
Please keep us posted on any further developments.
With regard to religion, I do think that Christian folks ought to be using their wealth to help others, but it shouldn't be through the tax system. The tax system is so full of kickbacks and bureaucracy, the money is doing more harm than good.
It is easier for a camel to walk through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven. I think about that often. I am what most would consider wealthy, but I try to do good with my money. When money becomes an obsession, it destroys a man's soul.

Well I picked two at random, and there is no behavior instructed.
You'll have to tell me what behavior this instructs. Sitting and wait for god to subdue your enemies? ok I'll wait, God, go ahead and fight away.
Acts 2:33-37New International Version (NIV)
33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,
“‘The Lord said to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand
35 until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.”’[a]
36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
and this one? Love? really? that's not really a behavior.
John 13:35New International Version (NIV)
35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
