I started base training in October for the indoor season, then moved to speed around January with plans of running a fast mile/800 in March (4:25/1:57). After a string of events (dumped by gf, races getting cancelled due to weather, getting sick, etc) I ended up running some ho-hum times (4:36/2:04).
Lately, I've been drinking a bit in the past month or so, but have been doing fairly well in workouts and I've run a couple of 5ks. I know the former needs to be cut from my daily routine, but I'm not sure where to go from this point as far as training. Should I take a break and start over? Or should I increase mileage and keep training? Or neither? Help, please.
A bit of background: 35-50 mpw during base phase (low amount, I know) and 30-40 mpw during racing season, even though I only had 2 races prior to goal race.
