Is this for real? Have to say, that is talent if true. 1:17 on 25mpw?
Meh.
I'm more impressed with the 5 km mile splits, if those are for real.
I went 1:14 more than a year after I completely stopped run training (however I was biking 40+ km/day to and from work most days that Summer). A few years later, I put in some really hard sustained training to see what my true potential was... apparently it wasn't as high as I thought as I only ran 1:09, even though I was averaging around 90 miles/week with 2-3 hard workouts. I'm always skeptical when somebody says that they ran a fast time off of very little running mileage because usually that person is either omitting the fact that they only stopped serious run training a short time ago or they cross-train like a fiend.
For me, I've found that, as long as I maintain my skinny build, spend a fair amount of time on my feet, and do some cross training, I can run reasonably close to my PRs without putting in much actual running work. Maybe for others it's different.
