Masters Phenom?

I climb about twice a month with a neighbor that ran in college (he's 42). I talked him into going to the track with me last night (I'm 32), as his wife volunteered to babysit my kid while my wife is out of town. The plan was to do 2/4/2/4 at about 80% effort with 2 minutes jog between each rep. It's tough to plan pace times with the wind/cold this time of year in the mountains, so I go by effort. So, he basically kicked my butt. He ran 28/58/28/56. Needless to say, I was shocked. He's really gym fit, and a super strong climber. I just couldn't believe that would translate over to such good running fitness. So, after all this rambling, what would be a good 800 for someone his age? I'm 100% positive that he could run 2.05 right now with no real running training.

That would be significantly sub two capability, depending on how hard that was for him if he exists.

This would indicate something like 1:54 if he did it at 100% effort.

If this was 80% effot or didn' leave him reeling this would probably indicate a 1:50 or so.

At about the same age, I ran 2:05 and could never do such a session even on my best day (55 400 PR). On the other hand I was climbing 5.14, so no biggy.

By the way, either my post or the OP is a troll, only I know for sure that it is not me.

Haha, he definitely exists. I'd say we both were 100% on the last rep, but the other intervals were pretty close to 80-85%. What's a really good national 800m masters time? (I guess we could exclude Lagat from that...)
