I'm sure that is what it has to be. Problem is, there is a threadbare logic to it that could conceivably make it true. Or at least its interesting to think through the ramifications if was true.
What if Cheserek and Jenkins declared they were too good for the NCAA championships and were going to run a separate match race at Pre? In a roundabout way it would be kind of a masterful marketing stroke. They still run before a sell out crowd at Hayward. The arrogance of it all would probably make headlines on ESPN and promote the sport better than anything else.
