Why does Boston Marathon make everyone except Allistar DNF Craig race a fahkin marathon to qualify? Why not a 1:15 half marathon?

Boston has historically allowed good runners who haven't run qualifying times into the race. It's the BAA's race.
Do you have any concept of how much better 1:15 is than 3:05? They're not even in the same universe. 1:15 is equivalent to nearly a minute per mile better than a 3:05 marathon.
I think if anything it should be something like this
3:05 Marathon or 1:25 half
3:10 or 1:30 half
3:20 or 1:35 half
ect.
Well, Alistair Cragg was a world class runner at shorter distances. So if you have some credentials that are similar, I recommend sending them to race management. I think a low 13 5k or sub 28 10k will get you an elite entry.
Cragg ran a 2:23 on December 1st, 2013. The qualifying window for the 2015 Boston Marathon opened on September 14th, 2013. EOT.
Also, spell his name correctly, moron.

My point exactly
Why can't has let you in with a 1:15 so you won't have to race 2 full marathons each year?
why is Cragg doing Boston? Can the times run there be considered as qualifying standards?

Good point. He is leaving a smaller window by running marathons like Boston. I don't get why he still goes out with the leaders in races either. Fair enough, I get that you want to mix it up with the big boys and be a competitor and honour but for once, he should just go out and run for the standard. Get that under his belt and push on from there. The standard should be a walk in the park for a guy of his quality.
is there an updated Boston elite filed list somewhere that shoes Cragg is a planned starter?
It's absurd. I ran 1:16 at 45 but since it had been several years since I last ran a marathon (2:39), I couldn't sign up for Boston this year. And it didn't matter that I was running a marathon in December (I ran 2:38), since you had to sign up way back in September, I think. In other words, I was probably a half hour to forty minutes or more below the qualifying standard for my age but couldn't sign up.
What a bunch of tools.
The Boston Marathon invites certain elite athletes to compete in the race. That is their prerogative. Cynthia Limo is running her debut marathon at Boston this year.
If you had to qualify, it means you're not elite. Get over it.

Did you write the BAA? I think they would have accepted a 45 year old 2:38 marathoner.
Bahston is a very incestuous city favoring other Bahston groups. Doesn't Cragg's agent base out of Boston? He's the one on record bragging "I can do whatever the f**k Iwant here"?
I heard rumors of other agents getting cheated by the organization in favor of wetmore in the past. Really hurts there reputation.
Having said that Cragg is worth an elite invite but they always make a big deal out of him entering races only to DNF.
Lot of crying here. Just go run sub 3:05 and stop complaining. If you get into the sub elite realm, ask for an invite. This means maybe sub 1:08. They'll let you in. Otherwise, lengthen that long run or raise $5000 for charity.
Because BQing is the main ambition for most serious hobbyists, who make up the vast majority of the field. Qualifying through a half detract from the achievement..
Qualify.
Get invited.
Buy your way in.
In my day, before it got branded by bucket listers, Boston was a good east-coast marathon. Now, fat people run it and put themselves on Facebook.

Think Cragg's agent is Ray Treacy

It's sad when the disgruntled scum of the sport arise to post crap like this questioning why Boston wouldn't make Allistar Craig qualify. Why would Boston make Allistar qualify is the better question.
Craig could run a qualifier 365 days straight if he wanted to.
