I'm looking for an online tool that works just like a Facebook Group while not actually being a FB Group.
Features I'm looking for:
- Add team members from different companies
- Start and view conversation threads organized by topic
- Team members can access the conversation anytime, online
- Share photos or documents within the conversation threads
I've had good luck with FB Groups for non-work committees but I don't believe this is the right tool for a work setting.

Yammer is what you want. Its a Microsoft product, comes included in the Office365 suite. You can create groups (your department, your unit, your sub committee) and set privacy settings.
No ads
Works fairly well - not quite as much functionality as FB, but sufficient for work.
We have access to Yammer at the office but can I had consultants from outside our firm? I didn't think that was an option
