New to running, well.....relatively new as in about 18 months. I have run 38.37 for 10k, 1.24 for a half marathon and 3.06 for the marathon. I hadn't done any exercise in nearly 8 years before I started running
My physio is obsessed with stats and keeps saying to me that I'm the person with the best potential he has seen. It's not just him though, every race I attend and run. Nearly every other runner comes up to me and thinks I'm going to win. My coach is the same....he keeps telling me I have incredible potential. I don't know how people can come to this conclusion when I haven't run anything remotely spectacular or outside the norm of most people I know who I train with.
I've asked him what he has seen but he just keeps saying, I know it when I see it. Vague answer.
Not asking specifically about me but how do coaches see potential in latecomers to running who haven't blown the doors off with their performances?
