Just wondering if people run in Manitoba, Canada?
They run if they're in the woods and they see Saskatchewan.
Yes, very fast too.
You need under 6:00 pace or the mosquitoes will get you.
Lived there in the late 80s and early 90s, ran my second marathon there in 1992. Cold running in the winter, you need to bundle up. Hot running in the summer, and yes the mosquitoes get really bad... I've got a soft spot for the place because my son was born there, but if I never live there again it will be too soon...
On a positive note, we moved there inDecember of 1988 in -35C weather and the car heater had died and we were driving with all our possessions in the car, plus our two cats. We were bundled up and I had to scrape the windshield on the inside. On the highway through North Dakota in the middle of the night the car started hesitating and I thought maybe there was water in the fuel, so I put in some gas line antifreeze but it didn't help. We managed to get the car across the border into Canada and pulled into a motel, where the car died and wouldn't start again. We had to carry all our crap a long way from the motel office to our room only to discover the place had lost power and had no heat or hot water, so we had no way to get warm. Somehow we survived the night and next morning I got help to push the car to the garage next door to get it fixed. A mechanic spent four hours working on the car trying to diagnose it. He had tried several things when he finally figured out it was a simple timing issue, and he got us fixed up and on the road early afternoon. This guy has us over the barrel and he knew it. we had all our worldly possessions in the car and needed to report to work that day, so he could have charged us a fortune and he knew it.
What did the guy do? He billed us $17 and apologized for not fixing it faster. Four hours of labour and a successful repair and he billed us $17.
I don't love the weather in Manitoba, but I've got a lot of time for the people there...
